小龍包 !

Ni Hao from muggy Shanghai.

It’s nice to be back home ! Well, almost home. I’ve come to appreciate all the Saturday morning Chinese School classes that my mom forced us to attend for a good 16 years – at least now I can maneuver my way around the city without being completely lost (:

After a 5-hour delay, China Eastern got us into Pudong airport safe and sound. Before they let us off the plane, four people in full-body hazard suits came in to take our temperature – thankfully nobody had a fever, so we were safe from quarantine unlike some less fortunate classmates of mine. At midnight, the city was a ridiculous 85 degrees, and our taxi driver sped 110 mph down the empty freeway. We got to ECNU (East China Normal University) in under an hour, and proceeded to get very lost inside the campus. After some phone calls we finally made our way to the international students dorm – so fancy ! Checking in was a breeze, and then stealing wireless internet to let my loved ones know that I am alive and well before knocking out in bed.

So far, four days and counting ! The weather has been beautiful: hot but unexpectedly dry. The city was not as daunting as I remembered, and people seem less inclined to have their hands glued to the horn while driving. Perhaps this is because it is now prohibited by law to use it excessively in residential areas (yay!)

Here are some pictures from the craziness of the past few days:

Tomorrow is the scheduled program tour to a water-town called 朱家角 (Ju Jia Jiao), during which I will sneak in pictures from various cameras that are not mine, so I can share them here with all you lovely readers (:

Have a beautiful day !
